Youth

The City of Gretna provides recreational activities as listed in the Recreation page in this website.

 

This Spring will introduce a new program for our youth - Project P.L.A.Y. (Promoting Leadership Among Youth).  This six-week program will begin on April 11, 2007 and ends on May 25, 2007 and will take place at McDonogh Park and McDonogh 26 Elementary School.  This will be open to youth ages 7 - 17 and will feature a four-day program each week after school, with recreational and academic tutoring activites.  The Gretna Recreation Department will team up with Applied Scholastics for this pilot project.  Once success is achieved, look for the program to expand to two of our parks in the fall!
