  • New Trolley Service Available for Seniors
    Tuesday, February 16, 2016
The city's new trolley is now available to assist Gretna seniors needing transportation to the Gretna Senior and Wellness Center.

The Gretna Senior Center located at 606 Seventh Street provides activities, events, and meals to Seniors that live in Gretna and in unincorporated Jefferson Parish east of the Harvey Canal.

Gretna Senior Citizens have a transportation service to transport them to and from the Center for meals and activities.  Trips to department and grocery stores are a weekly event with a "mini-ride" bus trip to a regional restaurant on a monthly basis.

The Jefferson Committee on Aging provides services to this center to address the needs of our elderly.  Call (504) 366-8189 for more information

For regular bus transportation needs, Jefferson Parish provides "Half Fare" Cards for individuals over 65 years of age.

For special transportation needs, the Mobility Impaired Transportation System, known as MITS, is part of Jefferson Transit. MITS provides transportation for persons with disabilities who are unable to use fixed route Jefferson Transit service.
