Garbage and Trash Pickup

The City of Gretna contracts its garbage and trash collection to Coastal Waste Services, Inc.

Twice a week collection and disposal for the city of Gretna. South of the Expressway collection days are Tuesday/Friday and North of the Expressway the collections days are Monday/Thursday. Please put your bulky items out for collection on the collection day of the week. Items too large for collection by the usual collection truck will be collected that same Wednesday. Debris piles are not exceed 6 foot square and 4 foot tall. It is important to put items out the first collection day so that the regular drivers can create a route for the special truck that collects on Wednesday.

If for some reason you are not serviced attached to your cart will be a reason card outlining the reason for the service interruption. If there is not a reason card please contact Coastal Waste.

CWS will supply to all customers a 96-gallon cart. The cart will remains the property of Coastal Waste Services; if it breaks we fix it, if you move please leave it.

Construction Debris, Concrete, Liquid Paint and Mud are PROHIBITED.

To assure service on assigned day, garbage should be placed on the curb after 4 p.m. the day before collection day. By city ordinance, the containers cannot be placed on the curb earlier than 4 p.m. the day before collection day and must be retrieved and returned no later than 9 a.m. the day after collection day.

Service for the disabled will be handled on a case to case basis. Please call Coastal Waste Services at 391-7788 for details.

Prior to holidays check local newspaper for schedule. Coastal Waste Services observes New Years Day, Mardi Gras Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Utilize old garbage cans to place out excess waste. Please containerize waste whenever possible.
