Placing Flowers on John McDonogh's Tomb

John McDonogh Day

May 12, 2017

This 127th annual program is Jefferson Parish's oldest annual community event and honors public school philanthropist John McDonogh, presented by the oldest, continuously active school in Jefferson Parish, McDonogh No. 26, established in 1891. In return for his legacy of 39 public schools to the New Orleans area, all he asked was that students place flowers around his grave annually. Friday, May 12, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at the John McDonogh Cenotaph, McDonoghville Cemetery, 520 Hancock Street, Gretna.
