City of Gretna Closures and Suspensions
Due to the impending weather of Tropical Storms Marco and Laura, the following City buildings will be closed on
Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25.
Gretna City Hall
740 2nd Street
Gretna Clerk of Court
327 Huey P. Long Avenue
and will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, August 26.
The City of Gretna will not hold Mayor’s Court on Monday, August 24 – Thursday, August 27. Mayor’s Court will resume on Monday, August 31.
Garbage service will be suspended on Monday, August 24 and will resume as normal on Tuesday, August 25.
Please make sure that your garbage cans and recycling bins are put away and secured.
All city departments, including the Gretna Police Department and the David Crockett Fire Department, are prepared and stand ready for these storms. All canals have been drained to the lowest possible level and all street drains and WPA ditches have been cleared of any debris city-wide. At this time, we ask for your assistance in helping to monitor the drains to ensure that in the early stages of these weather events, they remain free of any large piles of debris.
We will send updates regarding future closures and conditions as we receive them. For any city service emergencies, please call (504) 363-1500. For any other emergencies, please dial 911. As always, we appreciate your due diligence by heading all local warnings and doing your part to ensure that our community remains safe and secure during these storms.
