August 16 Construction Update
The City of Gretna and its contractor Barriere Construction are working as quickly as possible to minimize the disruption to our neighbors. While the rain has delayed much of the concrete work, they are ahead of schedule with some of the subsurface work requiring a rethink of phasing and schedule.
This update is to provide notice to neighbors of changes to the tentative schedule and phasing of the project:
- Newton Street (yellow on map) will be closed until the week of August 29th.
- Contractors will not be moving on to the Green section of 3rdStreet until the blue is completed – anticipating this work to start August 23rd.
- Third street at Huey P Long will remain closed and the temporary U-turn removed until approximately September 15th.
- Lavoisier St will be the final phase of the
No traffic or parking will be possible in the street sections where work is occurring. Detour signs will be placed to reroute traffic.
