The City of Gretna Tourism Office assists visitors to the City, arranges tour groups and helps coordinate special events. The Tourism Office is in the Heritage House Welcome Center at 1035 Huey P. Long Avenue. Welcome Center hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

October 2026
October Fridays – Back to the Drive In – FREE Family Movies at the Gretna Amphitheater, 6:30 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Movie starts at dusk.
10/2 – Moana 2, 10/9 – Sing 2, 10/16 – Zootopia 2, 10/23 – Toy Story 4, 10/30 – Hocus Pocus
October Saturdays GRETNA FESTIN’ 2026 – Back to the River Fall Concert Series. Free concert at the Gretna Amphitheater for 5 p.m. Vendors onsite for food and drink purchase, bring a chair! Don’t want to lug a chair? VIP tickets available for purchase, call 504-363-1580 for details.

October 17 – Citywide Yard Sale on the neutral ground of Huey P. Long Ave. beginning at 7th Street from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Interested in being a vendor?, the cost is $30, signup here.
October 17 – Oktoberfest a German Beer Garden at 6th and Huey P. Long Ave. (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) sponsored by the German-American Cultural Center.
October 17 – Pumpkin Patch at the Huey P. Long Ave. neutral ground at 9th street 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Free photo opportunities and games for the kids to enjoy.
NOVEMBER 2026
November 11 – Veterans Day celebration at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion
November 27 – Lighting of the Oaks along Huey P. Long Ave. nightly at dusk through Mardi Gras
November 28 – December 18 – Passport to Christmas promotion event. Get your Passport to Gretna for deals and discounts at participating businesses. Collect enough stamps to enter for a chance at a gift basket worth over $1000. Winner pulled during the Farmer’s Market on December 19. Call the Welcome Center for details, 504-363-1580.
DECEMBER 2026
December 4 – 6 – Picnic Under the Lights. Rent a clear bubble tent under the beautifully lit Oaks on the neutral ground of Huey P. Long Ave. Rental sign up begins October 26, call 504-363-1580.
December 5– Olde Gretna Christmas Market at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion.
December 6 – Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade on Huey P. Long Ave. near 6th Street. Parade route starts at 5th near Richard St. head down 5th towards Huey P. Long Ave., turns right on Huey P. Long Ave., u-turns at 1st street, heads down Huey P. Long Ave. towards 10th Street, u-turns again and ends at 6th and Huey P. Long Ave. Parade rolls for 5 p.m. Free photos with Santa immediately following the tree lighting.
December 11-13 – Picnic Under the Lights. Rent a clear bubble tent under the beautifully lit Oaks on the neutral ground of Huey P. Long Ave. Rental sign up begins October 26, call 504-363-1580.
December 12 – Shop the Huey Holiday Market at the Gretna Cultural Center, over 80 vendors selling holiday related items from 9 a.m – 2 p.m.
December 18 – 20 – Picnic Under the Lights. Rent a clear bubble tent under the beautifully lit Oaks on the neutral ground of Huey P. Long Ave. Rental sign up begins October 26, call 504-363-1580.
December 20 – St, Joseph Church Living Nativity on Huey P. Long Ave. near 6th Street, festivities begin at 6 p.m. Featuring live animals and a choir singing.
January 2027
January 9– Toast to Mardi Gras, choosing of Gretna’s King/Queen
January 12 – GREDI King Cake Social
January 16 – Krewe of Cuties Parade, details to be announced at a later date.
February 2027
February 8 – GRELA presents Lundi Gras in Gretna at the Farmer’s Market pavilion 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Free concert with food and beverage for purchase.
February 13 – Annual Valentine’s Day Concert at the Gretna Cultural Center.
MARCH 2027
March 7 – Italian-Irish Parade rolls in downtown Gretna for noon followed by a free concert under the Gretna Market Pavilion!
March 13 – “Shop the Huey” Easter Market– Artists and musicians along the streets of downtown Gretna.
March 27 – (Anticipated)Chili Cook-off, downtown Gretna, St. Joseph Church.
APRIL 2026
April 3 – GRID Cookoff at Mel Ott Park for 1 p.m., pre-sale tickets will be available at the Welcome Center. Call about sponsorship opportunities, 504-363-1580.
April 17 – Food Truck Festival- 5 p.m. -9 p.m. Huey P. Long Ave. 4th Street to the river. Live music at Memorial Square and kids corner under the Gretna Market Pavilion.
MAY 2027
May 8 – Maifest – Extended Arts and crafts and plants sale market along Huey P. Long Ave. (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) with a German Beer Garden at 5th and Huey P. Long Ave. (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) sponsored by the German-American Cultural Center.
