CHRISTMAS IN GRETNA 2020
Kick off a month of festive holiday shopping and drive-by events.
DRIVE THE HUEY
MONTH OF DECEMBER

Huey P. Long Avenue will twinkle in lights for your drive-thru enjoyment
the whole month of December.
Shop the Huey & Letters to Santa: Saturday, December 5 is a day of holiday shopping with Shop the Huey from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. inside and outside of the Gretna Cultural Center for the Arts. Boutique holiday market shopping in downtown Gretna while you sip on bottomless mimosas! Get all your gifts in one place! Also, receive a visit from St. Nicholas and write your letter to Santa at the Gretna Farmers’ Market from 8:30 a.m – 12:30 p.m.
Tree Lighting: We will be lighting the Christmas tree on Sunday, December 6 at 6 p.m.! There will be no public event, but we encourage everyone to drive by to see the tree lit up on Huey P. Long Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets, and wave to Santa and your Elected Officials!
Pictures with Santa: Make an appointment to take pictures with Santa next to the sled and the Christmas tree on Saturday, December 12 between 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. To schedule your picture with Santa, please contact Ms. Summer Cook at (504) 363-1552. If you can’t make it out to see Santa on the 12th, he will also be at the Farmers Market on Saturday, December 19!
Living Nativity: On Friday, December 18 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., St. Joseph Church is sponsoring a Living Nativity on the Huey P. Long Avenue neutral ground, between 6th and 7th Streets. We encourage the public to drive by and see the beautiful scenery along with LIVE animals!
Passport to Christmas: AND don’t forget there are so many more individual events taking place throughout the month. Get your Gretna Passport to Christmas at Gretna City Hall, the Gretna Farmers Market, or at participating businesses. Get 12 different stamps from participating businesses and become eligible to win a Christmas gift basket or a piece of beautiful jewelry from Rihner’s Jewelers. The winner will be announced at the Farmers Market on December 19, 2020!
