Sept. 2nd Construction Update
The City of Gretna and its contractor Barriere Construction are working as quickly as possible to minimize the disruption to our neighbors. While rains have delayed much of the concrete work, this aggressive schedule revision is intended to minimize impact to neighbors and complete as much of the street work as possible prior to the Gretna Heritage Festival October 7th-9th. Please note changes to the tentative schedule and phasing of the project as follows:
- Newton Street (yellow on map) will open to traffic on Tuesday, September 6th.
- Starting Wednesday, September 7th, Lavoisier St from 2nd to 3rdwill be closed to traffic (purple on map).
- Third Street from Lavoisier St to Lafayette St will be closed until approximately September 26th(green on map).
- Third street at Huey P Long (red on map) will remain closed and the temporary U- turn removed until approximately September 15th.
No traffic or parking will be possible in the street sections where work is occurring. Detour signs will be placed to reroute traffic.
