City of Gretna offices closed onWednesday, December 24, through Friday, December 26 in observance of Christmas, and will reopen on Monday, December 29, at
their regularly scheduled times. All City services will be suspended on 12/24, 12/25, and 12/26 except for water emergencies, which may be reported to (504) 363-1540. There will be no garbage service on Thursday, December 25. Garbage service will take place as normally scheduled on Friday, December 26, for Tuesday/Friday pickup customers.

Finance

The Finance Department is responsible for all budgeting, revenue and tax collection, accounts receivable, accounts payable, procurement and payroll processing. The Finance Department reports directly to the Mayor and must get approval from the City Council on most budgetary and collection matters. The City’s fiscal year is April 1st through March 30th.

Property Tax Assessment

Property values are assessed through the Jefferson Parish Assessor’s Office. Their website, www.jpassessor.com, provides access to property search tools, millage rates, assessment formulas and homestead exemptions. Please note that the City of Gretna does not offer a homestead exemption for property taxes specific to the City’s jurisdiction.
